Jomo Phillips,
MSSW, RMFT Canada
Clinical Fellow & Approved Supervisor, AAMFT, Founder, and Clinical Director of The Relational Practices Ltd.
My name is Jomo Phillips; I founded The Relational Practices Ltd. I have over 25 years of clinical experience in various practice environments, including government social services, employee assistance, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, private residential and in-home treatment for high-net-worth individuals, and private practice. I am a couple and family therapist and clinical social worker who works with couples, families, and individuals in Barbados, the Caribbean, and worldwide. I passionately believe everyone should have an opportunity to experience safety, healing, and true love. I am affirming, willing, and happy to serve various clients, including members of the LGBTQI+ community.
I am a former Fulbright Scholar with a B.Sc. in Social Work from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, and a Master of Science in Social Work (Marriage and Family Therapy Specialisation) from the University of Louisville, United States. I am also a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist in Canada, an ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist and Supervisor, a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and a trained EMDR therapist.
In addition to providing therapy, I teach social work and counselling. I have also taught nursing and medical students. I supervise and provide consults and training to clinicians and organisations interested in relational, systemic, and social justice-oriented approaches. I am one of the founders of the Caribbean EFT Community and a former President of the Barbados Association of Professional Social Workers.
When not working, I am first at spin class; I also love hanging out with my wife, family members and friends, reading, exploring nature, and swimming in the ocean with my daughter.
Kristen Steinbok, M.sc., Registered counselling psychologist (on maternity leave).
My name is Kristen Steinbok, and I am a Registered Counselling Psychologist (Barbados). I have had six years of counselling experience in Barbados and Canada. I have worked in various settings, including mentoring at-risk youth, treatment facilities for vulnerable individuals, gender-based violence rehabilitation, trauma rehabilitation, and community outreach. However, my passion as a Counselling Psychologist is working with couples, families, and individuals.
I completed a B.Sc. with distinction in Child, Youth, and Family Studies and a Psychology minor from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. Subsequently, I completed my Master of Science in Counselling Psychology from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus; I am also advanced trained in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy.
Due to my passion for working with couples, I have completed my Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy training, and I am now working on becoming an ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist. I also enjoy co-parenting work, and I have an interest in sex therapy. As a practitioner, I am passionate about providing safe, empathic, and non-judgmental care to all communities, especially to communities that are often marginalised, such as the individuals within the LGBTQI+ community. In my practice and daily life, I provide a warm, authentic, validating, and compassionate space for everyone I meet.
Outside my clinical work, I have various interests, including exercise and physical fitness, gardening and tending to my house plants, having dinner with friends, enjoying the sea and swimming, and spending quiet afternoons with my husband.
Nicole Lynch, Ed.D. Registered Counselling Psychologist.
My name is Nicole Lynch, and I am a Registered Counselling Psychologist (Barbados) with 19 years of therapy experience. I have worked in various settings, including schools, out-of-school programmes, residential homes for children in care, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres, and private practice. I am passionate about fostering environments which support mental and emotional wellness in children, adolescents, adults, and young adults. Everyone deserves a safe space to experience unconditional positive regard, empathy, and healing. I am warm, attentive, curious, patient, and non-judgmental as a clinician.
I am a former OAS scholar with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Specialised Honours from York University, a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (School Counselling Specialisation) from Trinity Western University, a Doctor of Education in Early Childhood Education from Walden University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, Special Needs with Distinction from Erdiston Teachers’ Training College. I have started training in EMDR this year, and I recently completed the first half of my Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy training.
In addition to my clinical work, I facilitate workshops locally and regionally in school-wide discipline, social and behavioural change, and parenting. I am passionate about supporting educators and enjoy co-hosting an annual teacher well-being retreat.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, singing along to musicals, trying new restaurants with my friends, and spending time with my husband and daughter.
Brandon Koo, M.Sc. Counselling Psychologist
I am Brandon Koo, a Counselling Psychologist dedicated to helping people strengthen their relationships with themselves and others. We thrive when we feel connected, seen, secure, and supported, and this belief shapes my work as a therapist.
I earned the International Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship from the University of British Columbia, Canada, where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. I went on to complete a Master of Science in Counselling Psychology at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
My professional experience spans a range of settings, including school-based behaviour intervention programmes, substance misuse treatment facilities, and international mentorship initiatives for high-achieving students. In my clinical practice, I have worked with adults and youth facing trauma, depression, and anger. I am also passionate about couples therapy, helping partners rediscover their ability to love and be loved. I have completed the first component of my Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy training.
I create a therapeutic space that is sincere, open, and affirming, particularly for individuals and families who often face additional burdens of stigma and marginalisation, including those within the LGBTQI+ community. I enjoy supporting clients as they learn to care for themselves and others, recognising that this work can be especially demanding in the Caribbean context.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy activities like going to the gym, watching anime and reading comics, and spending time writing, reading, and liming at the beach with family and friends.
